Nutrition Services
Dean Health System’s Nutrition Services Registered Dietitians (RD) are the experts in food and nutrition and help to promote healthful eating. They provide individuals and their families with practical nutrition guidance.
Medical Nutrition Therapy
Our registered dietitians provide medical nutrition therapy to help manage health conditions including diabetes, celiac disease (gluten intolerance), heart disease risk, hypertension or high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, food allergies and sensitivities, and digestive disorders. Meal plans are individualized to meet personal health needs, food preferences and lifestyle.
Eating Disorders
Dean dietitians can assist with eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorders. In a safe, non-judgemental environment, our dietitians help individuals identify their eating patterns and develop strategies for meeting their nutritional needs.
Cholesterol Education
Dean registered dietitians provide nutrition counseling on low-cholesterol and low-fat diets consistent with the National Cholesterol Education Program guidelines. Patients with high cholesterol and/or triglyceride levels are encouraged to meet with a Dean dietitian.
Weight Management
Nutrition Services staff work closely with primary care physicians and referring specialists, including Dean's Comprehensive Weight Management Program, to help individuals develop skills to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. Dean dietitians facilitate Way To Go Kids, a nutrition and fitness program for kids.
Diabetes Management Support
Dean dietitians work closely with referring physicians and diabetes nurse specialists to assist those with diabetes in modifying their diet to maintain good blood glucose levels. Our dietitians help teach the Living Well With Diabetes class which is for people with Type 2 Diabetes. This class focuses on providing knowledge and skills in diabetes self-management.
