Dean Sports Medicine Offers ImPact Testing for Teens
Education for Kids in Collision & Contact Sports
Before they head out onto the field, court, diamond or rink, arm your athletes with a different piece of protection. Dean’s Sports Medicine Department is offering baseline ImPact testing session for athletes 12 years of age and older. Physicians and athletic trainers will be on-hand for this group testing session, which offers teens education on concussion awareness and prevention.
“We really hope this helps prevent head injuries in local athletes,” says Brian Reeder, MD, of Dean’s Sports Medicine Team. “I find baseline testing extremely helpful when dealing with post-injury management and when making return-to-play considerations for athletes who have suffered one or more concussions.”
ImPact testing is available on Wednesdays from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Dean West Clinic at 752 N. High Point Road in Madison from now through September 30th. It is also available on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Dean East Clinic at 1821 S. Stoughton Road from now through September 24th. Testing is $15 and is also available by appointment at (608) 294-6464.
Dean’s Primary Care Sports Medicine Physicians have a primary specialty in pediatrics or family medicine and have received a fellowship in sports medicine. Dean also has an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon on staff, in addition to many licensed athletic trainers and physical therapists to serve athletes’ needs. Many serve as team physicians for local schools and for events such as the Badger State Games. They are experienced in treating injuries sustained during play including ankle sprains, muscle strains, as well as knee and shoulder injuries.
